Privacy notice

This notice covers this website, https://oursharedlife.app. The OurSharedLife app has its own privacy policy, which describes very different information and applies once you have an account.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Veracity Software Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 13 701 291 349) of 144 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood VIC 3134, Australia. "OurSharedLife" is the name of our product; Veracity Software Solutions Pty Ltd is the company behind it.
For the information described below we are responsible for how it is handled — we decide what is collected and why. Our suppliers handle it on our instructions, and using a supplier does not move that responsibility onto them.
2. What we collect
One thing: your email address, and only if you type it into the signup form and then confirm it.
Alongside it we keep a record that you consented — the date and time, and the IP address the signup came from. We keep it because Australian law puts the burden of proving consent on the sender, so we need to be able to show you asked to hear from us. It also helps us block automated abuse of the form.
That is the whole list. We don't ask for your name, phone number, address, or anything about your household.
3. What we don't collect
- No advertising or analytics cookies, tracking pixels or fingerprinting
- No behavioural profiling, and no information bought from anyone else
- No payment details — there is nothing to buy on this website
- Nothing from the OurSharedLife app. This website never connects to it.
About IP addresses
Some websites claim to collect no IP address at all. That isn't technically possible: your browser has to tell a server where to send the page. What we can say is this — our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives your IP address to deliver the page and to run the spam check on the signup form, and our email provider records it once, at the moment you sign up, as evidence of consent. We don't use it to build a profile of you, and we don't combine it with anything else.
4. Why we have it, and our legal basis

We won't use your address for anything else without asking you first.
5. Cookies
This website doesn't set advertising or analytics cookies, which is why there's no cookie banner.
Two things may be stored on your device, and both are strictly necessary for something you asked for:

If we ever turn on Cloudflare Web Analytics — which counts page views without cookies or fingerprinting — we'll say so here first.

So your address is stored in Ireland, but sending you an email passes through the United States. We have written data processing agreements with our suppliers, and these transfers rely on recognised safeguards — the UK and Ireland are recognised as providing adequate protection, and standard contractual clauses apply further down the chain. EmailOctopus also notes that some of its staff may work outside the UK and Europe.
We don't sell or share your personal information, and we never will.
7. How long we keep it

Why unsubscribing doesn't erase you completely. When you unsubscribe we keep your address on a short "do not contact" list. If we deleted it entirely, a future import could email you again — exactly what you asked us not to do. That entry is used for nothing else.

We reply within 30 days, and we handle requests ourselves rather than passing you to a supplier.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office; or in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
This website is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we have no reason to: there is nothing here for a child to use. If you think a child has signed up, email privacy@oursharedlife.app and we'll delete it.
10. Security
- Everything is served over HTTPS.
- Our mailing list credentials are held as encrypted secrets, never in our code.
- Access to the mailing list requires multi-factor authentication.
- Our servers never write your email address to a log.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as Australia's Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
11. Changes to this notice
If we change what we collect or why, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect.
